creating your
Wedding Stationery
Wedding stationery can be more detailed than you might first imagine, so I've put together this guide to walk you through my creative process. My goal is to make planning your stationery feel seamless and enjoyable.
Below is a 5 Step Guide to how we will create you perfected wedding stationery designs together.
HOW IT WORKS
Step One
Sharing Your Story
The first step is for me to get to know you and your wedding. I'll send over a simple questionnaire to learn about your vision, colour palettes, and any stationery ideas you have. I'll also share a digital portfolio of my previous work to spark some inspiration.
Prefer a quick chat?
I offer a free 15-minute Zoom consultation to discuss your project ideas and get a feel for exactly what you need. It's the fastest way to get started.
Once I have a clear picture of what you're looking for, I'll create a custom quote tailored to your project. If you're happy to move forward, a £100 deposit will secure your booking and officially kick off the design process!
Step Two
Let's Meet and Get Creative
Once your deposit is secured, we'll schedule a time to meet and dive into your creative vision. I'm flexible with appointments and happy to meet throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, to fit your schedule.
In-Person: I'd love to meet in person so I can show you examples of my previous designs and let you feel the beautiful paper samples. This helps us get a real sense of what you both love and what you want for your stationery.
Virtual: If distance or timing is an issue, we can connect on Zoom. It's a great alternative for a productive meeting!
To make our meeting as productive as possible, please feel free to share any inspiration you've gathered, such as a Pinterest board or other images. This will give me a perfect understanding of your style and what you have in mind.
Step Three
The Creative Process & Design
Once we've finalised the details, I'll begin the creative process of bringing your vision to life. You'll be part of the journey as I send over mock-ups and provisional sketches for your approval.
My process typically involves sending you the final pencil sketch before I begin inking or painting. This ensures you're happy with the direction before I create the final artwork. I'll continue to keep you updated throughout this stage so you can see your designs progress.
Once the illustrations are complete, I'll scan them to create the digital design files for your stationery suite.
Step 4:
Producing Your Designs
Once you're completely happy with the design, we'll finalise all the details. This includes confirming quantities, paper stock, and finishes.
I work closely with several trusted, UK-based printing partners who offer a range of standard and bespoke options. This allows us to select the perfect materials to bring your vision to life and ensure your stationery beautifully fits the feel of your day.
Once all the specifics are locked in, I will send over your final invoice. After the payment is made, I will place the order and begin production. Please note, if you are working with me on day-of items or invitations only, your initial deposit will be deducted from your final balance.
Step Five
Finishing Touches & Delivery
For your Save the Dates and invitations, I provide a personal finishing service. These items will be delivered to me first, allowing me to apply any agreed-upon finishing touches, such as envelope liners, belly bands, or addressing.
Once prepared, your stationery will be sent via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery to your preferred address. If you are local, we can also arrange a convenient collection or delivery.
For On the Day commissions that include large-scale signage—such as welcome signs, seating plans, or timelines—I arrange for these to be shipped directly to you from the printers. This reduces shipping costs and minimises back-and-forth transit, ensuring your items arrive safely and securely. All deliveries are tracked for your peace of mind.
And that’s a wrap!
How long does the design and printing process take?
The entire process, from our initial meeting to having your stationery ready to send to guests, typically takes 3 to 4 weeks.
Here is a breakdown of the steps:
Initial Ideas & Sketching: I like to meet with you 4 to 6 weeks before you need your items. After our discussion, I take about a week to refine the ideas, gather reference images, and prepare preliminary sketches for your approval.
Final Artwork Creation: Once you've approved the sketches, I begin the final artwork. This usually takes 5 to 10 days, depending on the complexity. After the art is complete, I scan it in to finalize your digital designs.
Printing: Once you are happy with the final digital designs, they go to print.
For Save the Dates and Invitations, the standard turnaround is typically 2 to 3 working days.
For large-scale printing (like Welcome Signs or Table Plans), the turnaround is usually 3 to 5 working days.
Finishing Touches: If you require optional finishing touches—such as envelope liners, belly bands, or envelope addressing—please allow an additional 2 to 3 days for these to be completed.
